Wednesday Wippet #3

Since my previous wippet garnered such a great response, I stuck with the UF.  Page 27 isn’t all that intense, but I don’t have 27 chapters so you’ll have to take what you get.  Also, after reading it, I feel I have to remind you:  This is FIRST DRAFT material.  Although I did edit it slightly before posting it because, um, well, my Sage would’ve had royal kinipshun fits at my overuse of ‘was’.  I try not to provoke him.  It’s just better that way.

Don’t forget to stop by these folks Sarah L Fox, Krista Walsh, and Steve McHugh and see if they’ve got a Wippet as well.

“Third one that’s called with that today, Professor.  Best you stay home and get some rest.  Have some chicken noodle soup or a nice hot tea with honey and brandy.”

He smiled despite himself.  “I’ll do that.  Can you see that Dean Fisher gets the message?  And ask Mira to handle the lectures?  Syllabuses should be on my desk.  She’ll know where to find them.”

“Will do, Professor.”

“Thanks.”  He hung up, and slipped his cell phone into his pocket.  With the university in the next town over, Aaron didn’t worry about getting caught playing hooky.  The forty-five minute commute each day could be a grind, but provided other benefits, like being able to skip out of his scholarly duties and not worry about it.

Just his luck, falling for a woman that wasn’t entirely what she seemed.  His previous relationship had lasted all of three weeks, though she had wanted it to last longer.  Aaron had disagreed.  Honestly, he’d disagreed after the first night, but somehow she convinced him to give it a try.  Later, she tried to convince a judge she hadn’t really been trying to kill Aaron when she flipped out and went after him with a fire poker.

Write on!

  3. Hi, I love the warmth and texture of this story, and its sinister whimsy! It didn’t take me long before it felt like I knew the characters! If we write, our soul breathes us in! I can see you’re very talented! Keep writing! Thank you for the follow as well!
