Sooooo . . . Yeah

Welcome back.  Or should I say, thanks for occasionally still checking in, as that seems to be what I’m doing these days.  I know I’ve repeatedly made the vow, and the attempt, to post regularly.  That just does not seem to be happening.  For no other reason than the fact I’ve been uber busy and something has to suffer.
Poor Blog.  <sniff>

That pesky day job, the one that makes it possible for me to live in the lifestyle to which I’ve become accustomed, is such a time sucker.

Even though I haven’t been here, I’ve been productive.  Here’s the current list of what I’ve been up to:

    • BD&L got another going over and, as of last night, has been uploaded to Harper Voyager during their open submission period.
    • No more queries out.  Yet.  That will be rectified this coming week.  Now, here’s a question:  Should I tell agents in my query letter that I sent the ms to Harper Voyager?  Or doesn’t it matter?
    • The absolute drop-dead deadline for the Witch Hunt anthology piece is the 16th and I am just finishing up final edits so should be able to get that done by tomorrow.  But I also need to create my bio, and provide a photo as well.  Ugh to the last bit.  I’m the least photogenic person I know.  I much prefer being on the backside of the camera and hence, like no picture of me ever taken.
Well, except this one, because it tells a story.
    • I’ll be submitting BD&L to the Hook, Line & Sinker contest tomorrow.
      Hook,Line,&Sinker

Along with all that, I switched servers for my personal blog and had to recreate it when I lost all the files.  I’ve been reading various things for various people.  I’ve been out of town quite a bit.  The last trip left me with only my smart phone to access the internet.  *shudder*  I’ll be out of town next weekend, but will at least have wifi available.  Then I’m gone the first weekend of November.  Um . . . hey, after that I may actually be home for a while.

Now all I have to do is figure out which writing project I want to jump into next.  BD&L 2?  My neglected UF?  One of the trillion other ideas that have come to me whilst too busy to pay them heed?  And, just because I haven’t offered up a sniglet of late, here’s one of the characters that invaded my head a few weeks ago:  Tryst.

Crack the WIP!

  1. Congrats on submitting to Harper Voyager! I have the same problem with my day job, which keeps me way too busy to have the writing life I want 😉

    • Now comes the long wait. If I don’t hear anything within three months, I can consider it a pass. Yikes. Can you say, check e-mail much? LOL

  2. Day jobs do take their toll on our time, don’t they? But based on what I just read with “Tryst,” your ideas aren’t suffering!

    • Thank you. 🙂 Unfortunately, a lot of those ideas I dash off on break and e-mail home to myself. It’s seriously annoying sitting at a computer all day because my muse thinks it must mean I can write whenever she chooses. *sigh*

  3. I hear you on the day job, and it’s so frustrating. I often think to myself if I only had one full day a week where I could hide away with my writing I would get so much more accomplished than the bits and pieces of time I find here and there. Just one day a week. Is that so much to ask?

    • What’s really bad is I basically do have a day off. I only work until 9 on Friday mornings. How is it the universe knows I have that day off as well, and sees fit to dump everything on it? At least some weeks I’m able to spend most of it writing.
