Like a Yo-Yo, Time to ROW…ROW

I admit, I’m not the best at keeping up with ROW80 goals and bounce in and out like a yo-yo. Never-the-less, a new round is ensuing, and I am yo-yoing back into it. I just had four days off and wrote exactly zero words. Technically, I wrote a few. Less than a hundred. Some on a plot outline, and some on a scene that has no connection to anything, but popped into my head and so went into my journal lest I forget it. Not that it will ever amount to anything more than any other journal entry, but one never knows.

If you’ve not been to this blog before, or missed the other rounds, you might wonder what ROW80 is. You’re in luck. You can go here and read all about it. To summarize, it’s the writing challenge that knows you have a life. In actuality, not so much a challenge as an accountability.

My goals for this round are…drum roll, please. What do you mean, ‘No one brought the drums.’? Who was in charge of providing drums? You see, things are getting awfully lax around here. Can I at least get some flying monkey chatter then? Excellent, my goals are:

  1. Bust a move on Edge of Darkness, Book Three in the Darkness & Light Series. And by ‘bust a move’ I mean figure out what the blazes is going on and just power through the first draft, worrying about plot, structure, grammar, consistency, character arcs, and overall tight writing, once I have the story down. I already had to do away with a character I brought in who I really enjoyed. I just couldn’t make him work. I haven’t given up hope that somewhere along the line he comes back in. He keeps telling me he has a part to play.
  2. Look over Beta notes on Bound in Shadow and start the final edits on that. Also need to decide which route that one is going to take.
  3. Schedule writing time on weekends and days off and stick with it. Which not only involves keeping off the internet (oh ye great time-sucking, bright shiny, you!), but also involves getting the hubby to respect that time and not distract me until such times is over.

There. Three simple goals. I should be able to handle that, right? Care to know what other ROWers are up to? Check the Linky here.

    Dangit.

Good goals! I can’t wait to see what you do with Driev. 😀

  2. Sounds like some very good goals. I also can’t wait to see what you do with Driev. And Edge of Darkness.

    • I miss Driev. Once EoD is complete, or at least to Betas, I do believe he will be getting a new story. Mother questions may be answered. Or new ones discovered.

  3. Sound like some good goals, Kathi! Accountability helps a lot in creating consistency. *g*

    Good luck!

  4. Lately, I’ve been having a good run of getting work done and staying away from distractions. It’s always a nice feeling. I hope your third book comes out as strong as you want it to in this draft.
