A Bumpy Start to the Week

Oops, there it ain’t. Looks like I dropped the ball on my post-a-week promise. Damn. Apologies all around. So, did anyone try the fudge recipe? It’s good right out of the freezer, but I found the way I like it best is after it’s been sitting in my lunch bag for about 8 hours. It melts as soon as it touches your tongue. Mmm-mm-m. Not very fudge-like, but oh-so-tasty. I know I mentioned I might share the non-cheese cheesecake recipe, but …

Who Doesn’t Love Fudge?

I’m sure there are some of you who don’t. Truly, though, you needn’t read on if chocolate and fudge isn’t your thing. HOWEVER, if it’s only not your thing because you (like me) are trying to cut out sugar and eat more raw, wonderful food, then stick around. You have to understand, writers tend to be a bit sedentary. Job hazard and all that. Many, like moi, try to make changes to our lifestyles and eating …

How Authors are Like Pumpkins

I was flipping around several ideas to regale you with this week, when a rejection graced my in-box. I scowled at it. I had queried the publisher about that particular short story a few weeks ago, which was a few weeks after their stated expected response time. I realize editors are busy people and always want to give them a little lee-way. I was told the story was “still under consideration!” Whoa! I mean, under consideration. With a …

A Cover Reveal for the Fantabulous Krista Walsh

Okay, I had to cut and paste this from the wonderful Krista Walsh’s blog because apparently wordpress.com and .org don’t talk to one another. Who knew. O_o In any case, you might want to add this series to your TBR pile. Cover Reveal & Big IE News You  know how every now and again, there’s a book cover that stops you in your tracks and you have to take a moment to appreciate all the subtleties …

Starting Out as an Indie Author

I’m switching over to the business end of writing for this week’s post, and showing a little love for fellow WIPpeteer (once a WIPpeteer, always a WIPeteer), incredible Beta reader, and awesome award-winning author Ruth Nestvold, who has a new craft book available. I was just going to click the ‘reblog’ button, but that wouldn’t let me pick this blog as a target so, instead, here’s a glimpse. You can find your way to the original …

Roses in December

It’s been a mixed emotional bag this week, but I’m sticking with my post-a-week pledge (this was supposed to post Saturday a.m. No idea what happened.) and I did warn you there was no telling what you’d get as far as subject matter, and that goes for mood as well. On the up-side, it looks like Bound in Shadow has been officially assigned a reader at the publisher (for reals this time), so maybe I’ll know it’s …

Now, if you’re scratching your head and wondering what this Patreon thing is that I …

I Hab a Code in my Node

This is me this week. It was bound to happen. Since the holidays my co-workers have been hacking, sneezing, sniffling–and I have resisted. Even the first time the hubs brought something home from his work, I persevered. Office environments are almost as big a germ factory as daycares, however, and the cold thing keeps making a circuit and I keep avoiding. This weekend, something slammed the hubs. Nothing worse than a man who doesn’t feel well. …

Getting Past the Funk

Oh my god it’s Thursday and I haven’t posted yet!! Were you worried I’d forgotten my promise so quickly? (Gratuitous Jensen Ackles moment.  You’re welcome.) Done ogling? I can wait. Take your time. In any event,  I was actually going to post about my foray into Patreon, but I’m not quite ready for that yet. Still some final strings to tie up. That post will be coming next week during my *cue trumpets and assorted fanfare* Official …

The Care & Feeding of Creatives

It occurred to me in the wee hours of the morning (which for me is about 4:40 a.m.) that I promised a post a week and I really hadn’t given it any thought since then (yes, these are the things that pop into my head as I force myself vertical and begin to function). Out of sight, out of mind, I suppose. Or perhaps… Scrolling bleary-eyed (pre-caffeine) through the email inbox on my phone as I got …
